Even discussions around the school playground came into play for which side you supported and come October each year it came down to 161 laps at Bathurst. Seaton versus Brock; Johnson versus Skaife.

In this two-part blog, we dive deeper into Australia’s performance car manufacturers, and of course, at MB Insurance we can look to insure your Holden Special Vehicle (HSV).
Holden Special Vehicles was a specialist division of Holden motor vehicles. HSV turned variants of regular Holden models into true performance machines for the road. With production ceasing in 2017 HSV vehicles are becoming true classics in the Australian marketplace.
The HSV Range
The first HSV model was the 1988 SV88, however HSV did develop the iconic Commodore Group A VL of the same year. Whilst best known for its work based on the Commodore, HSV models were available with models based on the Astra, Caprice (Grange) and Jackaroo.
A Monaro based Coupe GTO and Coupe4 was also available, as was the utility based Maloo and SportsCat. Over 90,000 HSV vehicles were manufactured in total.
Performance was the name of the game with all HSV models. The Clubsport, Senator and GTS already provided an exhilarating drive, however the limited production W427 and GTSR models took it to a higher level. Rarely available on the used car market, these models have already attained collector status amongst enthusiasts.
