Ford Australia has a long history of creating great performance cars. The Falcon XY GTHO Phase 111, Superbird and John Goss Special easily spring to mind. In 2003 FPV came to the market with the GT (based on the BA Falcon) to compete with Holden's HSV models.
Modern Day FPV
Over the years FPV provided many performance models with both V8 and turbo six cylinder engines. The majority of FPV vehicles were based on the popular Ford Falcon. A utility model called Pursuit was available, and in 2008 FPV produced the F6X which was based on the Ford Territory.
Enthusiasts have taken a liking to the turbo 6, in a way that owners did with Japanese sports cars of the 90’s with the inline turbo 6 performance. While others cannot say no to the 5.4L quad cam V8 noise.
The final guise of FPV models was the FG Series. The top of the line model was the GT-F which featured a supercharged V8 engine and Brembo brakes. Only 550 were manufactured for the Australian and New Zealand market and are highly collectable amongst Ford enthusiasts.
